Yes. We retrofit new skylights into existing roofs, which is a great way to bring daylight into a dark room, hallway, or stairwell. We handle the roof side and flash it correctly.
Almost always it is the flashing, not the glass. Skylights leak where the roof meets the frame, so the fix is to strip back the old flashing and re-flash it properly, which is exactly what we do.
Usually yes. If your skylight is aging, replacing it while the roof is open is far cheaper than doing it later, and it means the new unit is flashed into your new roof from the start.
Modern skylights use much better glazing than older units, which reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. Replacing a foggy old skylight often improves both comfort and efficiency.
